The 2015 Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Award

is awarded to Michael Stoelzle for the poster entitled: Improved baseflow characterization in mountainous catchments (Stoelzle, M.; Stahl, K.; Schuetz, T.; Weiler, M.; Seibert, J.; Tallaksen, L. M.).

Michael Stoelzle works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Freiburg. During his PhD thesis he focused on catchment storage analysis and the climate sensitivity of catchments in order to improve low flow and streamflow drought prediction. His EGU 2015 poster “Improved baseflow characterization in mountainous catchments” presents a novel baseflow separation method to identify multiple delayed streamflow contributions in order to characterize the origins of these contributions by assessing seasonality and constancy of the streamflow regimes. The mproved method was developed during Michael’s PhD thesis, which he has completed in June 2014 under the supervision of Markus Weiler in Freiburg.
